 The Wisdom Flag which appeared in a dream to His Holiness the sixteenth Gyalwa Karmapa is symbolic of the relative and absolute truths.

 On the relative level, the colours blue and yellow represent the sky and the earth; and the wave symbolises the Buddhadharma which flourishes between the entirety of the two.

 On the absolute level the colours are symbolic of the union of emptiness and clarity, the true nature of mind; and the wave is an expression of the inseparability of bodhicitta and emptiness, the essence flowing through all phenomena.
