Catherine
Johnson is a registered Clinical Psychologist who
graduated from UCT. She has been
working as a therapist for 13 years.
Her psychotherapy training and orientation is predominantly in Self
Psychology, a branch of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. She was Chair of the Cape Town Psychoanalytic Self Psychology
Group for several years. Catherine
became interested in the integration of psychotherapy and spirituality, and
Buddhism in particular, in 2000 and convened a group of psychotherapists
developing this in their work. She presented a paper exploring this theme
through the work of Ken Wilber at the National Self Psychology Conference in
2004. She has completed the Foundation
Course of the U.K-based Buddhist Psychotherapy Karuna Institute.
