CAPRICORNUS the Goat.

Hi
Have just read your material on Capricorn...thank you - there is much new that I haven't read before.  But why such an accent on Christianity? Astrology was practiced long before the advent of Christ and Christianity.......

In your material you mention that Capricorn ends on the 19th January and yet it is also thought to end on the 2oth January...my mother was adamant that she and [her twin sister] Joan were Capricorns...

Do you know of the Seer Cheiro - my mother was an ardent fan of his - my childhood was coloured by what he had written about my number and my sign...as a result I always had to choose either a pink or blue party dress!!!!!!!!!!

Samten are you still doing tarot readings?  Is there any chance you can do one for me from a distance?

Dear Ingride,

CHEIRO, as far as I am concerned, has been superceded by much better material. Regarding the material on Capricorn by Robertson,  I am looking beyond the fact that he uses Christian imagery, to the wider associations that he gathers. His use of Islamic astrology, classical and so-called pagan material,  makes me feel that he was not a narrow-minded Christian.  In any event, most orthodox Christian churches see astrology as the work of the devil,  and thus Christians who use  astrological  terms are to the left of the fundamentalists. We should give them credit,  where credit is due, and bypass  the material that does not interest us. As a Buddhist I manage to do so. Then also, I have to test the waters as to how deeply this group is willing to go in terms of the History of astrology,  which certainly pre-dates Christianity by thousands of years.

Regarding when a Sign ends, there are variations in the dates . . . and thus particulate attention should be given to people who are born, as they say, on the cusp.

Peace

Samten
